Invaluable Partners in Education

Welcome, parents and guardians! Your involvement is the key to our students’ success, and we consider you our most important partners. This page is your dedicated hub for the resources, links, and information you need to stay connected and support your child’s educational journey at the James Weldon Johnson Leadership Academy.

💻 NYC Schools & Account Information

Access essential citywide resources and your child’s academic information through the NYC Department of Education (DOE).

  • NYC Schools Account (NYCSA): This is your most powerful tool. NYCSA is the official DOE parent portal where you can see your child’s grades, attendance, test scores, report cards, and more, all in one place. If you haven’t created an account, we strongly encourage you to do so.

  • Enrollment Information: Find everything you need to know about enrolling your child, from Pre-K to 8th grade, on the official DOE website.

  • Health & Wellness in Schools: Access information on immunizations, school health forms, allergies, and the services provided by our on-site health clinic.

  • Parent and Family Resources: The DOE offers a wide range of guides and resources on topics from bullying prevention to special education services.

📅 School Essentials & Quick Links

  • School Year Calendar: View all holidays, parent-teacher conference dates, and school closures for the current academic year.

  • School Lunch Menus: See what’s for breakfast and lunch each day. You can also find information about free and reduced-price meals.

👋 Get Involved & Stay Connected

A strong school is built on a strong community. Your participation makes a huge difference, and we invite you to get involved in any way you can.

Parent Association (PA/PTA)

Our Parent Association is a fantastic way to connect with other families, share ideas, and play an active role in shaping our school’s future. The PA/PTA helps organize events, supports school initiatives, and serves as a vital voice for our families. Please join us for our monthly meetings!

Parent-Teacher Conferences

These meetings are essential for tracking your child’s progress. We hold formal conferences twice a year, but we encourage you to maintain open communication with your child’s teachers throughout the year. The best way to reach a teacher is by sending a note or an email to schedule a conversation.

Volunteer Opportunities

Whether you can help out at the book fair, chaperone a field trip, or share your career experience with our middle schoolers, your time and talent are always welcome. Keep an eye on school newsletters for specific volunteer opportunities.

Thank you for everything you do to support our students and our school. We look forward to partnering with you for a successful year!
